Our School Room

Not Back to School Blog Hop  This is “School Room Week” on the Not Back-to-School Blog Hop.

Until last year, we always did school at the kitchen table. I have a hutch in the kitchen that held the books and supplies that we were using. Each child had a lower cabinet to hold his or her books and resource materials are kept in the upper cabinets. I’m still using this cabinet/ hutch for storage.

Last year, we set up a school area in the study. Since I’m only homeschooling one child now, I needed only one desk area. Emily’s books and materials are kept in the book shelf to the left. Her workboxes are right at hand and I just added the world map on the wall.

Our study also has my large desk, this small corner desk that I don’t really use,  and a wall of bookshelves. Do you think I might have an issue with too many books?! (I actually have more bookshelves in the kids’ rooms and the family room.)

I really like this set up because I can work at my computer and be right on hand for Emily when she needs help.

  1. I have the same book "issue"! One thing I'm missing in our school room is a large desk for *me*. Mine is located downstairs, but I'd love to have it upstairs where the kids do their work. Nice space...my favorite part is all those books. :)

  7. Your school room/study looks great! I am almost finished with ours. Need to ad another desk for one of the kids and my desk. I am home schooling 3 out of our five right now. Whether we have one or 10 kids homeschooling, its nice to be with them. =0) I have a few pics on my site of our school room in progress. Hopefully it gets done this week. it's actually our front room - the room you walk into from the front door. Have a great school year. =0)
