Rickwood Caverns Field Trip

For years, as we’ve made trips to and through Birmingham, I’ve noticed the sign on the interstate pointing to Rickwood Caverns. But not until last week, when a homeschool group field trip was organized, did we ever actually take a tour. We enjoyed ourselves and it was definitely worth the 75 minute drive. Not the most impressive cave  I’ve seen, but it was a fun mile-long tour with interesting cave formations and an underground lake.

  1. Thanks for sharing your field trip for Field Trip Friday ( http://www.thetravelingpraters.com/2011/05/field-trip-friday-alabama-constitution.html). I've seen signs for Rickwood- maybe one day we'll stop too.

Have you been to Cathedral Caverns? We went with some friends not long ago and really enjoyed it. The first part of the tour wasn't that impressive, but once we got to the back of the cave I thought it was beautiful. Definitely worth a visit. :)

  2. That looks awesome! I'll keep that in mind if we're ever that way.

  3. I love it! It looks like so much fun although I think I would have gotten claustrophobic in there. lol
