My New Homeschooling Toy!

Last year, my “fun” homeschooling purchase was my laminator. My friends on the TOS Crew talked about how much they used and enjoyed their laminators. I purchased an inexpensive one and it has, indeed, gotten a lot of use.

A few weeks ago, I became aware of something else I “had” to have! Tristan at Our Busy Homeschool blogged about her ProClick  P50 spiral punch that enables her to spiral bind her documents, books, stories that her kids write, etc. at home. She even showed pictures of her beautifully bound TOS Planner.

I started thinking about all things I would like to spiral bind if I had the opportunity. Generally, when I print out ebooks, and workbooks, I put them in a 3 ring binder. That works fine except that the binders take up too much room on the bookshelf, and I am out of space! Emily likes to write little books, and would love them to be bound and look “real.” I could bind index cards with vocabulary words or Bible verses on them.  So….I scouted out ebay and found a good deal. Then I searched the internet for the best deal on coils and covers.  (Bestbuybinding.com has a limited selection, but great prices.)

Here are my supplies:

And my first finished projects!

DSC08251 The funny thing is, one day after I ordered my ProClick and supplies, Katie came to me and told me she needed some (music) scores bound. I said, “Sure, I can do that--at the end of the week, when my ProClick gets here.”  She was quite surprised to hear that I could bind documents at home….and I was surprised that she made the request without knowing that I had just ordered the punch!  What timing!

  1. Very cool! I, too, saw this on Tristan's blog and thought it looked quite neat. I have a comb-binding machine, but this looks even neater! Have fun!
